Members of my Network Marketing Coaching Programs can ask me for help or advice every week.
Today’s question is a USANA specific question but can be applied to any global MLM company.
A Mastermind member from Perth, Australia asks this question about Preferred Customers and Retail Customers and expanding into China market. (for those that don’t know a Preferred Customer is, it is USANA’s customer enrollment program.)
Preferred Customers and Retail Customers in Emerging Markets

Hi Simon,
I am yet to find out about the preferred customer program in China but in the event that they do not have one but I start getting people interested in trying the products, would you recommend I bring some extra stock with me to sell in China?
Also I recall you bought 700 Health and Freedom (business presentation newsletters) to Malaysia when you first started; given that in China its a little different in terms of the products would it be advisable I go to the nearest centre to buy the promo material rather than bring AUD materials over?
They don’t have a Babycare centre in Shanghai which is a bummer so will have to travel to Nanjing to check it all out. Getting closer to the trip so pretty excited.

Preferred Customers and Retail Customers
Here is what will help you…
For business materials.. yes.. i would suggest get the materials from China’s Babycare office..
BUT..
Do bring some Australian products over as backup. You can use the Australian products to support and edify the company and show to people in China how GLOBAL USANA is as a company.
That allows you to have proof that USANA is an American and global company and not just local China company.
It helps build credibility.
As for PCs… there aren’t many PCs in countries that are less developed… most PC countries are like USA, Canada, Australia, etc…
but if you go to countries like in philippines, malaysia, mexico, etc… most people will just join if they are going to buy products.
Normally they won’t spend so much on supplements but if they are going to spend, they might as well get the business as well.

I highly recommend bringing some Australian products over so that you can sell ASAP. The products and the bottles can serve as samples or demo for product display.
Let me know if you have any comments or thoughts.
Sincerely,
Simon Chan
