Members of my Network Marketing Coaching Programs can ask me for help or advice every week.
I recently got this question from one of my 5 Star Mastermind Coaching members from Australia.
–———————————————————————-
Hi Simon Chan
This question is something which I find it most difficult to handle since I started the business. A couple of my downlines and me are Christians and we do attend the same church. This downline of mine who is a Christian as well is on a spontaneous run to rank advance and there isn’t much time left. I have already taught him how to do planning for rank advancement. I asked him if he has a plan for his rank advancement. Here’s his reply
“No, but I have God.”
Although God is the one that controls everything but I still strongly feel that planning is required. I don’t know how to handle this scenario as it would contradict what our church leaders have been saying (let God take control of everything) and what I’m trying to deliver, which is planning. What do you think?
Cheers

You Got to Do Your Best First
I’m a Christian and also believe that ultimately God decides everything.
However, we can’t just sit back and do nothing.
Your question brings me back to my college days at Columbia.
I was a super lazy student and hoped that as long as I prayed and was a “good” Christian, God will take care of my grades and my future.
It is funny how I used to think that way but if you analyze it deeper, the reason I hoped that or “use God as a crutch” was because deep down I was LAZY and did not want to put the hard work.
I was giving myself an excuse to fail and not achieve my goals.
It was hopeful thinking.
A Phrase that Changed My Perspective
Later on, I saw this poster in the dormroom of my friend that had a positive impact on me for the rest of college and I still remember it to this day.
It was a poster of a basketball player dunking in a game and the caption read:
“Do your Best and God will do the Rest.”
We have to use work hard and put our talents to use. Otherwise we will waste what God has given us.
And working hard means doing whatever it takes whether it is setting goals, being disciplined and making sacrifices.
God wants us to work hard and do our best because when we succeed it makes Him look good.
The Extreme
Another perspective to look at it…
If your downlines really believe that it is “all up to God” then…
why does he even go for a rank advancement?
Why does he even go out and work?
Why does he even go to school?
He can be a beggar or just sit at home and watch TV all day because “he has God.”
So teach your team to go all out and do their VERY BEST!
Sincerely,
Simon Chan
