Here is a more advanced training post that will give future and current leaders something to think about.
The topic is Duplication; or Lack of Duplication.
A Silver Director that I know from the USA recently contacted me about his challenges and frustrations. I respect this guy a lot and has seen him grow tremendously in the past year. He has earned consistently and has even had many weeks where he earns more than a Gold Director!
And yet, he was frustrated and bummed out recently.
Why?
Cause the lack of duplication!
Before I go into what he has to do, let me clarify a little about this Leader’s situation.
He is super focused works hard… very hard.
He has tremendous energy and a personality that attracts other prospects
He can sponsor a ton of people.
He invests in self development and implements what he learns.
If you are a Leader and has built an organization already, does this sound familiar?
I’m sure it does because I’ve been down that road before.
Lack of Duplication
Every leader has been down this road before.
You are commited, you can sponsor… you work the business very hard… but YOU are doing all the work because 90% of your business comes from your efforts and NOT from your downline.
Everyone Has Problems
If you a new associate or has had challenges sponsoring, you probably wish you had this guy’s problem.
This just shows that there are ALWAYS challenges in network marketing and problems in life.
Problems don’t end when you learn to sponsor…
Problems don’t end when you become a Silver Diretor…
Problems don’t end when you become a Gold Director
Nor do they end when you become a Diamond or Star Diamond or Million Dollar Club earner or President Award’s winner.
You can never escape problems but your Mindset (Fundamental Skill #1) on how you deal with them will determine your success.
New problems and challenges always pop up and they are simple tests to see if you are worthy for the next level.
If you have the right Mindset (Fundamental Skill #1) and learn the lessons from these obstacles, then they are simply short term hurdles that you jump over on your journey to success.
Finding the Source of the Lack of Duplication
Back to this leader and his problem of duplication.
Here are a few things he has to recognize and do:
Realize that most people can NOT be like him.
Leaders are rare (only 3%) and hard to find and most of his downlines will not be as focused and has his heart and passion. I will write a later post about the 4 types of downlines but for now, realize that only 3% of an organization will be like him.
His Background is Unique and does NOT Duplicate
He has an unique background and most of his downlines does not have his influence over others nor can they sponsor people like he can. (He is like the typical Sponsor Monster that can sponsor tons but frustrated that his downlines not have his personality to do so)
His Downlines CAN BE Successful Though!
That said, his downlines CAN be successful and duplicate.
Just not the way he does it.
Diagnose the problem that his downlines are facing
When downlines don’t show up for trainings or not motivated anymore, there are specific reasons why.
If you were to play basketball and never played before and would get your butt kicked on the court and looked stupid, would you want to play basketball again?
I bet you will never again.
Same goes for network marketing.
If your new associate gets pummeled with questions or objections that they can’t handle, will they be excited to go prospect again?
The general rule is that once a new associate faces rejection or negativity, you have ONLY 24 HOURS to talk to him and help motivate him.
Otherwise the negativity sinks in and they will never be motivated to do the business again. And the longer the duration between the negativity and for you to talk to them, the greater the chance they will never do the business again.
The negativity steals their dreams.
They joined MLM because they thought it would help them achieve their dreams. The negativity makes them feel that MLM will never work for them. It may work for others but not for “them.”
First Step: The Emotional Rollercoaster
New distributors can be discouraged easily from what they can expect in their few weeks.
Network Marketing is an emotional roller coaster. There are ups and downs.
When you sign up you are excited and UP.
Then you talked to your roommate that rejects you and you are DOWN.
Then you attend your first training and you are excited and UP!
Then you got your first guest to agree to attend a meeting but he cancels on you and you are DOWN.
Then your mom agrees to join and you are UP!
But your mom never shows up for trainings because she didn’t really want to do the business. She just joined to support you. You are DOWN.
Then your old high school friend decides to join and you are UP!
But he never shows up for any trainings and quits in 2 weeks and you are DOWN!
That… is the life and reality of network marketing.
There is NO BS and NO HYPE about it. We’ve all be through that before and Leaders know it and can accept it but it will be VERY HARD for new distributors if they are NOT AWARE.
The key word is NOT AWARE.
If they know it is coming, it doesn’t remove the pain but it does soften it a little.
It’s like riding a real rollercoaster.
The reason why the Space Mountain ride in Disneyland is scary is because it’s in the dark and you can’t see and you have no idea what will happen. But when you can see the turns coming, it’s not as scary.
So let them know about the emotional roller coaster that they are about to get on.
Second Step: Find out what happens when your downlines approach their prospects
Find out the results they are getting
And here is the IMPORTANT thing that most leaders miss out.
Find out WHAT EXACTLY CAUSED the result.
For example, if someone rejected them or their friends are not intersted, is it because of the specific words they said that caused people to be skeptical?
For i.e. if they said:
“You got to check this out. You can make a lot of money real quickly overnight”
If they said something like that, that just screams “get rich quick scheme” and it’s no wonder none of their friends are interested.
Or maybe they talk too much and are too salesy and pushy. Again, what specific words are used?
5 Common Mistakes that Most Distributors Make
THE S.O.W. SPONSORING SYSTEM teaches the 5 Common Mistakes that most distributors make.
1) They exclude people on their Contact List
They prejudge and automatically think people won’t be interested and thus don’t contact them
2) They don’t contact Acquaintances:
They think only close friends and family will join them and don’t bother to contact the acquaitances that they don’t know well
3) They think the goal is to get everyone on their Contact List to join.
The goal is to let everyone know about the business and not to get everyone to join. This prevents you from being too salesy and pushy
4) They sell the business instead of the meeting and thus become way too salesy and pushy
5) There are 3 types of prospects and they talk to each of them the same way.
To learn about the 3 Types of prospects, make sure you watch my Free 5 Star Prospecting Workshop.
Next Steps towards Duplication
Find out what the associates are actually SAYING to their prospects.
Are they being too salesy?
Are they trying to do a “presentation” when they don’t have the skills to do one and thus look unprofessional?
Are they being stumped with objections?
There could be many many possibilities but the first thing you have to do is find out what happened and diagnose the problem within first 24 hours!
Duplication
The key to duplication is simple.
It has to be simple to learn and simple enough for anyone to be able to do it.
Duplication happens when many people do a few simple steps every single day.
But the steps must be simple!
Find out what they are doing and simplify the process! If you don’t have a simple system that new associates can tap into, I would highly recommend you to create one or you can save yourself time and apply THE S.O.W. SPONSORING SYSTEM.
