Why I had Such a Great Time This Past Weekend in Palo Alto, California with Team Era

Team Era Brings Me Back to Palo Alto

This past weekend I visited one of my favorite places in the world, Palo Alto, California.

Palo Alto is home to Stanford University, and it’s in the Silicon Valley, which is where Apple and other top tech companies like Google, Intel, Facebook, etc. have their headquarters.

Of recent fame, Palo Alto is where Jeremy Lin grew up and played high school basketball.

Palo Alto is a beautiful place, but I love it for other reasons.

Great Memories

Palo Alto brings back great memories. I used to hang out there with my good friends that went to graduate school in Stanford and Berkeley.

I would stay over in Stanford, explore the campus, and hang out during the day. Then would drive to Berkeley and hang out there at night. I loved it so much that I never minded the 50-mile drive between the two schools!

When I visited my friends, it was my first taste of California, and I loved it. Once I visited Palo Alto, I knew that one day I had to leave NYC and move out to California.

Later on, one of my best friends, Tom, moved out to Palo Alto, and I would visit him and stay at his condo near the Oregon Expressway at least once a year. We would go for jogs and workout together on the beautiful Stanford campus.

Those were great times.

Inspiration

When I started my entrepreneurial career, I became attracted to Palo Alto for another reason.

It was inspiring.

It was inspiring to be in an environment where there was so much “brains” and “entrepreneurship.”

Internet companies would pop up daily.

Most would go out of business, but some had staying power. They are household names now.

Regardless of the economy, new companies and opportunities would sprout up, and along the way, billions of dollars flowed into the economy.

It inspires me to see how people can turn ideas into something new. In my opinion, the best hotbed for ideas and entrepreneurship is in the Silicon Valley.

An Amazing Event Created by an Amazing Team

The reason I visited Palo Alto was because I was the featured speaker at a network marketing training event led by Team Era.

It was a very impressive event, and we had a fully packed house.

It was so jam packed that we ran out of chairs! We started a few minutes late so that the Sheraton hotel staff could bring in more seating.

I had a TON of fun doing the training. It’s always an enjoyable experience to speak to highly motivated individuals who are focused on their goals and want to work hard.

The impressive thing was that during the entire 150 minutes that I spoke, NO ONE left the room to use the bathroom or became distracted with their phones. Everyone’s eyes were glued to me as they listened and took notes.

At the end, people all lined up to thank me for the great training I did, but they were the real heroes of the day.

A teacher is only as good as the student, and this past Saturday, all of Team Era and everyone else in attendance were AWESOME students.

Thanks to everyone at Team Era, especially to Ms. Nancy On, for making the experience so fun.

Ms.On is the leader of Team Era, and I am grateful for her leadership putting together such a wonderful event.

Impressive Personal Growth: Irving McKnight

The night before the event, I was invited to a special dinner to talk to the leaders of Team Era.

I had great French Vietnamese food, and the evening was filled with questions from the leaders on how to grow and explore their network marketing businesses.

I was impressed with the attitude and professionalism of these leaders, especially because most of them were under the age of 28.

They are so far ahead of where I was when I was their age!

If they stay focused and maintain their consistency while investing heavily in self-development, they will easily surpass me in a few short years.

One leader that stood out in particular was this “kid” Irving McKnight. The reason he stood out was because of his growth in just a few short months.

I met Irv for the first time at International Convention in Salt Lake City last year, and in just eight months, he is a totally different person!

Back then he was a “hungry kid” with a great attitude, but now I can see his maturity and leadership simply from the questions he asked me during dinner that night. They were very revealing as to what was going on inside his mind.

I was so impressed with his development that I extended him an invitation to join my private, 5 Star Mastermind Coaching group.

Reason for Irving McKnight’s Growth

Later on the next day after the event, I asked Irv what he had done in the last few months. He shared with me some of the audios he’d heard and the top books that he’d read.

No surprise there.

If you invest in your mind, you grow.

That’s why when people ask me the #1 Secret to my success, I always say it is my crazy devotion to making sure that I read a book or listen to some audio EVERY SINGLE day.

If you feed your mind with wisdom and positive motivation, success will happen.

And the contrary is also true.

If you fill your mind with TV and whatever negative news is out there, I guarantee you will fail in business and in your career.

The Need for Urgency

The only thing I wish these young entrepreneurs at Team Era would really get is the sense of urgency.

When you are young, you think things will last forever, and your life and responsibilities will be the same.

But life just gets more challenging and tougher as you get older.

With the joys of family and parenthood also come challenges, and often these new obstacles make it harder to achieve your business and career pursuits.

If there were anything I wish I could have done differently, it would be to have started my entrepreneurial career earlier and not wasted so many years working at a job.

We are on earth for only a limited time, and we must seize the day and take advantage of every minute we have.

Our families and loved ones deserve our time so that’s why we must always go all out and have a sense of urgency in our business. This applies to everyone, regardless of how old you are.

Time is limited so, if you are pursuing a dream, go all out and make it happen quickly.

Create that sense of urgency.

When we don’t have deadlines, we tend to procrastinate and do things that sabotage our goals.

However, when we are under pressure, magical things happen!

Life is precious. Time is precious. Make sure you go all out today.
